Camping in Lloydminister, AB/SASK

July 22-28, 2007

This trip started off with a bang! Actually, it was more like a "PEW!". We shot guns at the Wild West Shooting Range in West Edmonton Mall. Guns are LOUD! I was wearing 'Ear muffs', but the "Pew" was still too loud. I had to buy ear plugs for $1.00!I gave the lady my loonie as I thought back to the boxes and boxes of ear plugs at site. But a great mentor of mine once said, "My little friend, safety is number one........Safety is number one."
Dinner was at Dadeo's. I had the Oyster burger and sweet Potato fries which were really good, but a little too salty for my taste.

Next was Lloydminister, the border city. Half the city is in Alberta and the other half in Sask. COOL! I was thoroughly entertained by being in AB, then in Sask, back to AB, back to Sask. I guess the 'fun' wears off after a month which Kevin can testify to. We played 9 holes in the extreme heat and there was no beer girl. Next was Meadow Lake Provincial Park for fishing and more golfing. The golf course opened the back nine in June so the conditions were AMAZING. I've never seen such well maintained, divetless fairways. Golfing at Lloyd and Meadow Lake is extremely casual, "Oh yeah, just walk on and tee off whenever you want." Also, Kevin played 18 holes in flip-flops which the pro shop approved.

Strong winds swept through the area (Tornado?) prior to our arrival. The fish were still spooked on our first day and we had no bites. It was still pretty fun wading in the water, until my foot got covered in leeches! Those blood sucking monsters! Next day, we rented a boat and each caught suntans and pike.
